Patience

Patience, Outdoor Still Life
Patience
Our house is full. Groceries are flying out of the cupboards. We are staying home. I planted sugar snap peas and spinach in the garden, then strung up blue yarn for the peas to climb... and then painted them. The cement planter is the same one I have painted several other times, I love the presence and weight of it. This is a painting of patience: staying hopeful, valuing my family all around and praying for all the medical workers, the ill, the dead and the grieving. I placed my white floral kneeling cloth right above the cement planter to anticipate the flowering that will eventually come. Once again I am sitting close to my subject, looking down and then up...no deep vista...instead and intimacy and physicality so close. Patience and hope...
