One red morning

This painting was base on a quick sketch on an early morning walk where the sky was splashed with red, purple, pink and orange. The beauty was breathtaking and the glowing red sunrise was beautiful. When I painted this not long ago, I was inspired and energized as I have always enjoyed watching sunrises and sunsets. There is something about these events that warms my heart. On this occasion however, I was reminded of the eerie beauty and sadness & loss from the recent bushfires that affected Australia - where the mix of smoke and dust in the air were also turning the rising sun magnificent shades of orange and red. So for me, this painting brings me joy but also sadness.
