The town of Marysvale is a place chock full of old buildings – great painting material. In the late 1800s it was the jumping off point for Bullion Canyon prospecting and during WWII, uranium mining. Aluminum, copper, fluorite, gold, lead, manganese, molybdenum, potash, silver, and uranium have been mined nearby.
Last July, my husband and I drove through on one of the hottest days of the year. He roasted in the car in the shade with all the windows down. I painted the quick piece shown here and then made a slightly larger studio painting of the same little house.
I hope you can feel that July heat radiating from the painting.
(This photo was taken by an iPhone. The original painting is in my studio and I'm not supposed to go there for another two weeks. Photos taken with a proper camera, at higher pixel count, will be available in a few weeks.)
