This creation was done on location of a local mountain range in North Idaho. Not having an easel large enough, did it on my hands and knees! The largest panel (top left) is 24x24 inches, to it's right the panel is 24x12, and the bottom 2 panels are 12x12 and 12x24. I thoroughly enjoy doing things that appear impossible! And with changing light, to maintain the integrity of the entire creation. The only thing NOT done on location, was assembling these panels with a 1" space between each, and the outside of the entire unit, to have the 1.5" deep canvas also black, making a total, "ready to hang" gallery unit!
Impressionism, to me is capturing the IMPRESSION of what the eye sees, but only the mind and soul remembers! Thus, any detail is reserved for those areas I want the viewer to travel, or come back to. The simple almost non-informed areas, are merely a path, to the entire movement or statement of the painting...not something to prove how clever I was in applying the paint!
