Jane Bald

I've hiked the Roan Highlands several times and I've always been fascinated by the beauty of these balds. Enjoying a brief hike with my family under a rather ominous sky (which kept dipping down and enveloping us in thick but fast moving fog), I was able to thread the needle and snap a few good photos. I recently decided to bring the experience alive in the studio and I painted this oil on panel of Jane Bald, looking northbound on the Appalachian Trail.
