Calle Ravignani, Buenos Aires AR, my first and almost Last Plein air painting
Stretched canvas. Turning the corner to see this magical scene that would be my new home, my first night in Buenos Aires, it had to be a painting! Days later Determined to capture an entire street with so much character I set to work with 4 tubes of paint. Not long after I started I heard shouts of “peligro! Peligro” but I didn’t understand, so they gestured to the wall behind me. I turned to look up at a huge gun pointed at my head by a soldier motioning for me to move across the street Pronto. My fiancé planned our trip to meet his family, and It could have been a funeral. But Since this work there have been many, many more Plein air paintings, but this one never fails to cause a smile. We just returned from BsAs to celebrate our anniversary, and Calle Ravignani is now asphalt and the streetlights are no longer strung across it.
