One autumn I went on a stroll deep into the woods when fog began to roll in. It presented such a surreal, luminous view that I was so glad I could capture the scene on my iPhone's camera. The trail was loamy, the shadows on the edges glistened with dew, and in one moment, the sun broke through and hit a patch leaves with such brilliance, it almost hurt to look at them. I did several thumbnails of this, painting several smaller versions in pastel, oil, and even watercolor, before tackling this in a larger format. Pastels suited the subject matter best - presenting that ethereal, yet luminous glow that only soft pastels can do.
