A Stroll in Provence

I've spent a lot of time in France, particularly in Provence. There's something about the way the French adorn their doorways and windows that adds just that little extra touch of beauty. It's second nature — no respectable homeowner would ever allow their doorway to be dull and commonplace. Taking photos of all of these different entryways as you stroll through the smaller towns and cities in rural France brings me so much joy. And painting them is my homage to their creativity and joie de vivre. Although I'll paint these on location with watercolor, it isn't until I get home and into the studio that I have the materials and the space to do them justice.
