Sunsets in the mountains have their own special glory. I especially love them in the late fall, just before winter strikes. When the wind is cold, and you're at a high elevation so you're surrounded by the scent of evergreens, it's a magical place and time. This scene is at one of my most favorite lakes where we used to go camping a lot when I was much younger (you had to hike in quite a distance). I recently found old photos from those trips and some old watercolors I had done and decided to do this one in soft pastels because they captured the sweetness of the moment best. As usual, I experiment with 2-3 different thumbnails, using different color combinations until I get the color palette that feels right for that scene.
