The ocean, its beaches, dunes, and gaudy flower displays makes me smile all day long. I will often do 2-3 notan / greyscale sketches, capturing the shapes and shadows while making color marks so I'm formulating the color palette that I find most pleasing. This was deliberately done small so I could get several paintings in. Eventually, it will become a much larger painting.
