Shades of Gray

As a fifth generation native of the American West, I enjoy a rich heritage and love of its land, people and history. I grew up hearing my father tell us that as a teenager, he drove the horse team to load firewood with his Father. On their return, they approached the farmyard and my Grandfather asked my Dad to get down and open the gate so they could drive the team through. My Dad impertinently replied, “I’m a teamster not a gate-opener.” Needless to say that did not go over well! In his later years, my Father owned a team of Belgians that he trained and competed with in Horse-Pull Competitions. I have always had a great fondness for these beautiful animals in their harnesses.
