Ktunaxa Nation Homeland - Gift of the Creator

The Ktunaxa are the Indigenous People who have occupied the territory encompassed by the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers in what is now southeast British Columbia and a portion of northern Montana and Idaho. This scene is of the Kootenay River and the Rocky Mountains just north of where the Kootenay River flows into the Koocanusa reservoir. Before retiring, I worked for 17 years in this area. This painting was my first attempt to capture the beauty of the Kootenay region. When the snow is on the mountains and the larches and aspens are golden, it is a magical place.
