Franklin Street, Tucson

As a member of the Tucson Barrio Painters, we try to capture the 19th century neighborhoods of Tucson before they are gone. This block is particularly fascinating because across the street are the ruins of the Spanish Presidio established here in the 16th century. The painting is a market that was the focal point of a historic neighborhood, much photographed and celebrated. I had painted aspects of it many times but decided a full scope would be challenging.
