Great Hammock Road

This recently completed plein air piece was created during the unseasonably mild winter days here in New England. The road is an iconic scene near the beach in Old Saybrook, Connecticut where I reside. I was intrigued by the many elements of this composition from the buildings amid the marshlands on this country road, to the light poles that helped create space and distance. I was equally inspired by the beautiful lush colors and applied them generously primarily with a palette knife to keep the colors fresh.
