Spanish moss frames the view of an old rice field at Middleton Plantation, on the Ashley River near Charleston, SC. There are many beautiful scenes to paint at this historic site. The backlit moss and the sunny view beyond, with beautiful reflections in the water, were my inspiration. "Old Rice Field" is a studio panting from a smaller plein air study done on site.
