This was painted during Plein Air Easton 2019. I was struck by the light coming through the bedroom window of the farmhouse, often a sure sign that the building is unoccupied. Windows of houses that are lived in are usually broken up with shapes and values indicating furniture and other evidence of a human presence. I'm always moved by deserted houses, perhaps becasue of the stories that I'll never know, or by the strong reminder of passing time. I sketched the big shapes in with acrylic and then proceded to paint in oil using brushes, palette knives and rubber scrapers.
