Glacier Ancestors was painted outside at MacDonald Lake in Glacier National Park. After being briefed by Park Rangers about bears and their interest in approaching artists, I settled in front of the Lake to paint when I heard what sounded like bears sliding down the rocky incline directly behind me. All alone and armed with my bear spray, I turned my head to see what was coming...it turned out to only be a ranger checking on me. Heart stopping experience!
