Color, light and immediacy of brush strokes motivates me to paint and I aspire to create paintings that exhibit a fresh and spontaneous quality that provokes the viewer to interact with the painting. My painting 'Manhattan' was painted on location in New York City. New York is very special to me for many reasons, it’s where I landed when I first came to USA and I studied at New York University in Manhattan. The city was love at first sight for me and I have been spending a significant amount of time painting different aspects of the borough of Manhattan. Manhattan is always in motion and brightly lit and I wanted to convey this in my painting.
I am honored that this piece is a Finalist in the 14th International Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salon (2019-2020) Competition, received Award of Merit in National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society 2018 Online International Exhibition, and Honorable Mention Award in the Women Artists of the West 2020 Online Exhibition.
