The black valley park

The black valley park, Plein Air Work ONLY
The black valley park
Alla prima, en plein air piece. Oil on wood. Study for a possible larger painting.
Painted during an overcast day. My method is trying to be as fast as possible, and as accurate as possible.
In order to be as true to reality as possible I always paint landscapes en plein air. And in about 1 and a half hour.
So that I don't loose the light too much.
A part of my process; my philosophy that painting landscape is an echo of nature itself has guided me to try and feel and imitate what is happening in the landscape as if being part of it, acting through my brushstrokes how the water is flowing, or how the tree lays heavy and flat. How the twigs are pointing awkwardly in different directions.
This is also a study for a larger piece. So I try to be as fast as possible, and go for the things that really matters to me the most in the scene.
