Elgin Evening

Taking time out to see a slower side of Oregon, my husband and I decided to visit the small Eastern town of Elgin for a weekend. It sits at the base of the Wallowa Mountain range and is a center for ranchers. At dusk, we took a walk around the small town as the local businesses were closing up and calling it a day. I could hear the light buzz of evening TV sitcoms and the clanking of dishes being placed on the dinner tables as the locals were settling in for dinner. The evening sky was glowing and cast its color on everything it touched. The sights and sounds of the small town thrust my memory back to when I was a child.
