Heirloom House
This is my final goodbye from the fertile field of my grandparent's old farmhouse. The property was sold and so I took a walk around the property and soaked it in. While my brother and sister were helping Mom and Dad gather up the last bits before the movers came out, I took inventory of my adventures as a child on the farm: the tire swing and hammock, the hay forts and bats at dusk, the swamp with pollywogs, the elk crossing the fields at dusk, and wild turkey all taking part of the land. I watched the last of the sunlight glowing upon the house and hill that stood behind. As kids we all hiked the hill at one point in our lives. It was sort of a right of passage that I took around the age of 9. To summit, the hill gave us a sense of accomplishment and strength, and it also developed a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors that still resonates within...and my work as an artist.
