The Seventh Wave is an oil painting; preliminary sketches/compositions, photographs and studies during cross Canada plein air project 2019. The atmosphere for this painting was derived from a powerful storm with potential tornado activity while alone in rural farm territory north of Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada early July. I spent the day observing the atmospheric changes, evolving cloud structures and painting small studies. Temperature swings between 34 to 18 Celcius. This painting was created in studio on custom gessoed/sanded canvas with bronze ground. Rather than paint prairie ground, I painted seven waves. Artistic license!
