The Track Less Traveled

This was inspired by a 6x8 plein air that I recently painted in a series of nocturnes. The traveler is actually a self portrait. I took a series of photos of myself walking up and down the track. My camera was set up at the same height and location I painted it from. It is painted on oil primed linen that I stretched. I experimented with various textures and techniques on this painting while staying true to the plein air. I love painting nocturnes, there is a stillness and peacefulness while painting them. I will continue to do more.
