These are some of the women who have inspired me for their quest for justice and equality; their fight to defend the powerless; their persistence in the face of adversity, opposition and intimidation, their courage to face our deepest problems. These women were chosen among thousands I could have painted, because they also are symbols of hope and diversity. Among them are faceless immigrants, young women fighting for the preservation of our natural resources, freedom from gun violence, gender equality, and protection from predatory behavior.
These are some of the women who have already changed our world (like Mitsuye Endo and Ingrid Newkirk) and received almost no recognition. A list of who they are can be provided.
